Representation of experience by words was explored at length by Gorgias and Plato in ancient Greece. Rousseau went on to illustrate that language stemmed from emotions, whereas Kant considered that language emerged from careful and logical thought. The structuralism view of language was first introduced by Ferdinand de Saussure (Trask 2007; Bett 2010; Devitt & Sterelny 1999; Hauser & Fitch 2003; Pinker 1994). Predictive analytics methods give a rough judgement that of the available and in-use languages a large majority are likely to be dead by 2100. How does it happen? Is it due to cultural invasion, scientific adjustment or technological convenience? It is not very difficult to prevent a language from disintegrating or becoming endangered. J.; Nandurkar, Keshav Abstract: The comparison of pre and post Covid-19 performance is now being made in many areas. The invisible enemy in the form of Covid-19 virus has put a sturdy impact on many sectors and has forced these sectors to change their mode of operation. Education sector is the most affected sector due to this pandemic. Teachers have adapted to the online teaching methodology through various e-platforms. Feedback collected from the teachers suggested that most of the teachers are facing the problem of engaging the students effectively during the online lectures. Also it is challenging to ensure that students have acquired all knowledge levels as per Bloom's Taxonomy during online learning. A study was undertaken wherein 200 students were randomly divided into four equal groups. Online lectures on the same topic by the same instructor were arranged for every group. A different methodology of content delivery namely a) explanation by display of textual information, b) use of pictures, c) use of video content and d) use of numerical examples based on different learning styles reported in the literature. At the end of the lectures, students were assigned six questions corresponding to each level of the Bloom’s Taxonomy. The student responses were mapped and analyzed. The ranking of groups has been calculated using Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). It shows that group number four where text, picture at low level and video, numerical at high level has first rank with score of 0.350. The Pearson correlation between the groups was also determined. The correlation indicates that there is a positive correlation between group two and group four that means a combination of pictures, video and numerical at high level may leads to better results. This result can be useful for teachers to finding the most effective proportion of content type to map various levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy and thereby improve the learning performance of students during online teaching. Abstract: Objective: Employability skills and placements are extremely important for any technical institute. Analysis of strengths, weakness, opportunities and challenges (SWOC) helps to make informed decisions on the inputs received from the stakeholders. The purpose of this paper is to identify the SWOC of training and placement cell of a technical institute, undertake initiatives based on the SWOC analysis and determine the impact of these initiatives. Methodology: IT tools like Google form were designed and employed to carry out the SWOC analysis. This Google form was sent to the students and responses were obtained from 1087 students. The students responses were grouped under strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges and then segregated under five sub categories namely - institute and infrastructure; staff; teaching and learning; training / placement activities and mechanism or policies for improvement. Based on the SWOC analysis, certain initiatives were undertaken to overcome the weakness and to explore the opportunities. These initiatives have been mapped with the SWOC are analysed to determine the impact. To remain within the scope of this paper, data related initiatives undertaken and outcome of these initiatives is being carried out. The outcome of this study will help the Management, Principal and other senior faculty in developing appropriate strategies for enhancing the employability skills and placements.
