Abstract: The presentpaperexaminestheinfluence ofsurfaceroughnessontheperformanceoftwolobehybrid journal bearing.Theperformancecharacteristicsoftwolobejournalbearingscompensatedwith different typesof flowcontroldevicessuchasorifice, capillary,constant flow valveandslotrestrictors, havebeenpresentedfordifferentformsofroughnesspatternssuchastransverse,longitudinal,isotropic and smoothsurface.Theresultsofthestudyindicatethatroughnessorientationsignificantly affectsthe performance ofbearingsystem.Further,resultsindicatesthat,aproperselectionofroughnesspattern parameter,offsetfactorandcompensatingdeviceisessentialtoenhancethebearingperformance
