Abstract: Globally about 90 billion tonnes of solid waste are expected to be generated annually by the year 2025 and major share will be due to large network of industries located in different countries and many more which are planned in near future are the main source of production of a huge amount of by-products with different varieties. In the absence of other outlets, these by-products have occupied several acres of land and also affect the surroundings and create problem for their disposal. So it is necessary to find environmental friendly solution to achieve sustainability. Utilization of these by-products results in the conservation of natural resources, energy, save valuable land for huge dumps and value added. The properties of by-products depend upon properties of raw material, process of manufacturing and efficiency. In order to maximize the use of by-products as a raw material, filler, binder and additive detailed physical-chemical, engineering, properties are to be evaluated. Research into new and innovative uses of utilization in different field is continually advancing. Recently, a substantial amount of research is carried out to understanding of the behavior to improve the properties of cement and concrete products but very few review on explores the potential of industrial by products in geotechnical application like road pavement material, backfill material of embankment, layer below foundation,
